About me

I have been a proofreader since 2012 and have experience with fiction and non-fiction books, conference programmes and academic essays. I have completed the industry-recognised Publishing Training Centre (PTC) Basic Proofreading course with merit and  and am a member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP).

My interest began when I started doing proofreading, editing and some copywriting for the internal newsletter of La Leche League GB, a breastfeeding support charity and I have recently taken over as editor of the members’ magazine. I enjoy the challenge of ensuring finished articles and reports are factually correct and in line with the charity’s philosophy and style guide, as well as free from errors.

Before starting a family, I taught French and German in a comprehensive secondary school for four years; this, along with a qualification in Teaching English as a Foreign Language, has given me a solid linguistic foundation on which to build.

Over a decade of volunteering as a breastfeeding counsellor has given me a variety of transferable skills garnered from one-to-one support (given in person, on the phone, by email and online), arranging and leading group meetings and organising fundraising events. My time as a home educator, as well as a breastfeeding counsellor, has led to working with a wide and diverse group of people.
